I feel that the hh features Bill Tracy's best work. Its like a showcase that displays the most popular Bill Tracy stunts. Did anyone else ever feel like a ride through The Haunted House is like a trip through a Bill Tracy cataloge?

Very true. I have always felt that way. It offers the full spectrumof his work, from psychodelic to good old fashioned torture. And, now that stunts from Phantasmagoria are in there, it displays his work spanning a decade, HH in 1964, Phantasamagoria in 1973. Your statement is the very reason I keep the website going, so others can appreciate and enjoy it just as much as we!

I completely agree with you, and thanks so much for continuing to run such a great site. I also love that the Trimper family saves defunct dark rides and adds pieces from them into the HH. It gives fans of the defunct dark rides a chance to somewhat experience the ride again. And also, Brandon, what was Tracy's last attraction he built and what year was it installed?

I am pretty confident it was Whacky Shack at Joyland Amusement Park. The ride was built in spring of 1974, and Tracy died in August of that year.

It's really a shame Joyland is the way it is now. Vandals are ruining the park even more. Several of the Whacky Shack's props have been stolen (spider, vampira, ect.). I find it sad that those treasures are lost to the public. I'm glad the Phantasmagoria stunts have been given a new home!

Actually Spooky, the spider, vampira, swamp ghost, and a few other props from that ride are owned by a private collector. He found them in a local antique store and he bought them! They are in good hands. I had a chat with him about a year ago and they are being proudly displayed!

Is Joyland done like Bell's? Sound's like the Whacky Shack doesn't have much time left. Bill Tracy's final ride will probably be lost. Why did parks like those fail but a park like Knoebel's can keep going and going? I heard it was a legal battle between Stan Nelson and new owners with Joyland, the Nelsons actually bought the park back. Guess parks like those can't survive in a world of Cedar Fair's and Six Flags's with their extreme coasters and crap. At least Cedar Fair has good haunt events that bring back that old dark ride spirit with special walk through haunt buildings and outdoor attractions. My local park, Dorney Park is adding even more stuff this year and is creating a 13,000 sq ft haunt. Probably the former Club Blood which is getting redone. They have a 10,000 sq ft haunt added a few years ago where Boo/Kill Hill house was, Mansion House Hotel. Very detailed rooms.
