Everyone here seems pretty set on calling the old trailer mounted dark ride on the pier Ghost Pirates...
I always called it the Ghost. That's what it was called in the Amusement Park Guide by Tim O'Brian. Not Ghost "Pirates"...
Where did this add-on of "Pirates" come from ...as far as I remember, it was themed as a Bavarian Castle; Nothing remotely to do with Pirates. The inside was also lacking any buccaneers...It had Dragons, Hunchbacks, Vultures, a Witch, Skeletons, and Zombies...No Pirates...There were no Skull and Cross-bone symbols on it at all...
If I get a chance, I'll even post a picture of one of those Cat's meow miniatures that they sell to make your own boardwalk. They have a title on the ride on the pier piece, and it reads "GHOST" , not ghost pirates...
I'm just completely confuzzled on how the hell these "Pirates" that never were there came into the title...
As far as I know, it's "THE GHOST"...

Its ghost, your right I think its because of the previous Morbid Manor II had pirates on it so it stuck around. The ghost was cool but it was repetitive. However I did like the spiral incline its creative. They ust to have this old lady prop that I thought would just rock when I walked closer the thing scared me and I ran when I was about 12 or 10 years old. But inside was a headed monster, a wall of heads, a witch, electrocution man, puke man? And maybe something else

Yeah, I thought it Had to Do with Morbid Manor II. MM2 had Pirates on it. The Ghost is the name the 2 headed Dragon one went by; I remember the ghost had this creepy dude who would open the door at the top of the spiral lift.

Mike, you are right, it's officially called "The Ghost" but right before it was removed from the pier, the ride received a new paint job and they renamed it "Ghost Pirates"... it was painted on the front of the building. Check out the original brochure for the ride which I managed to win of eBay not long ago... And here is a photo with it painted on the front of the building.

I'm pretty sure I didn't get around to see it in it's later years. Why would they theme such a ride to Pirates? It has Dragons and Turrets for a reason...

Wow, thanks for the pictures! I always loved that ride. I wish it would come back. It didn't seem stupid to me.

NOTHING will ever be as good as the walk-through Morbid Manor. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't go through it in August 1988. If I would have walked onto the pier and seen it, I probably would have went through it. Because I had no idea if we were going to return to Ocean City. But, I actually had no idea the pier had a walk through haunted house in 1988. I saw the pier from a distance with the ferris wheel, but I wasn't paying attention to see that there was a creepy looking manor on it. I did go through a haunted house at Jolly Roger, though.
