I have rode the HH alot in the last few days. I think the breaks or what ever keeps the car from speeding, gave out in my car the other day on the last hill. I went down faster then usual. I have this on video though. does any one know if the brakes or what ever keeps you from speeding where updated recently?

Ha ha, it's AWESOME that you got it on tape! As I got a little older (still about nine or ten years old), I remember seeing all of the mechanics, etc. running around the ride, inside and out trying to fix problems....even at the end sometimes, our car would have to be stopped.
I also remember coming out of the ride, and just as we saw the light of day, the ride operator FLEW UP out of his seat, ran over to our car, and stopped it before it could slam right into the car in front of us!
After these incidents combined, I actually grew worried about the safety of the ride! I was afraid to go on it just because of the fear of someone bumping us from behind! I even would look behind the car just to make sure no one could possibly hit us! Fun times...

Wood planks that help the car slow down may need to be replaced or shinned.

Same thing happened to me once already...the car was alright half way down the hill, but then it lost all braking and almost flew over the banister! OUCH!

I think I know why this is happening! The wood planks create friction, right? I noticed that the cars front seemed to be pushed up. I mean like the car was at a angle, declining from the front. I think over the years, the cars have been pushed up from the friction resulting in less. I may be wrong though.

Today I got a S L O W car that literally almost stopped at every bend and hill! I was sure the next car would catch us, but they didn't come close! Ah, the fun of The Haunted House...

Before the blocks of wood were used to slow down the cars, were there any other methods?

Well, the ride is supposed to be scary, isn't it?

Fear of the ride breaking down was probably scariest for me when I was younger...
