There's two strict categories of Haunted Attractions nowadays; you have year-round attractions which rely on mechanical ghouls, and then you have the "Halloween Time" attractions which pop up at nearly ever park for a few weeks in September and October. These ones rely heavily on live performers and overly gory gags. However, there used to be a great amount of year-round attractions that incorporated the live actor gimmick into them. Morbid Manor on the Pier, Dracula's Castle in Wildwood, The Haunted Castle at Six Flags Great Adventure, etc.
What would you think about the idea of adding actors into the Haunted House? If it were to ever be done, how do you think that is should/would be handled?
Live actors could double as guards for the remaining Tracy Gags, and would add an element of unpredictability for the repeat rider, as well as the element of surprise for those who complain about the lack of scares in the ride, a-la those You Tube videos featuring the words "Lame Haunted House" in the title. Maybe only during the busy hours when riders flock to the HH at night? So that it wouldn't be a full-time thing. The HH doesn't lack space for live actors, as there are currently several areas set aside for employees to hide out inside already.
What's your take on this? We've been in need of a good topic to get some talk going on here again. Finally, something popped into my head that I can't recall us talking about before in depth.

It is an idea to think about....I was considering maybe at the end of the ride there can be a live Ooga-Booga man....I think it would prove to be more of an attention-getter coming out of it than a dripping waterfall. The screams of the riders might bring in more business.

When the waterfall is turned off in the off season, maybe that would work; however, that Waterfall is pretty darn powerful since they rebuilt it, and it's quite an attention grabber. Nobody wants to get that soaked, especially on the Haunted House.
I was thinking maybe in the room right before the balcony. You'd get the screams coming from the ride, but it would be in a larger, safer space to have someone in a costume patrol.

I think trying one or two live actors for a few weeks would be an intersted experiement. As Mike said, there are plenty of places for them to hide, and a lot of trap doors so they could sneak around as they please. I am thinking the Graveyard area would be great because they have the compressing room where they could sit and wait for folks to scare, then return.

Maybe they could wear some sort of neon or day-glow attire to match the ride. It would be an interesting idea to test.

This would be a good idea. I also think they need to add some air cannon compressors, they are easy cheap scares, even if its in a dark hallway. Or how about hanging strings, from the ceiling to make it feel like spider webs.

Seriously, the first time I rode the Haunted Hosue at Knoebels, those cobwebs REALLY STARTLED ME! It's so simple of a concept, but it really does work!

Yeah those cobwebs really scared me the first time too. I always thought it would be cool if they had the same effect in Trimper's, the corpse in a coffin room would work great for this in my opinion.
