I know that some parts of the ride go very slow, but at the sawmill and knit wit, (along with the birthday party, family of trolls, floating heads and witch) it goes pretty darn fast. Both times I rode I almost went past the sawmill before it started, and when I looked back to watch, the knit wit spun around. I look forward and the knit wit was already facing us.
Do you think the ride would be going too fast or it is just poor timing?
Also, I think they added a brake/block of wood at the stairway where Rat #2 and the old vampire are. Because you start speeding up past the hanging man, then you start to slow down, it picks up after the rat drops.
I just remember it as if it was going out of control, flying down the steps. Maybe it was a safety issue?

I agree that some parts of the ride are speedy, especially the areas you mentioned. Although it may seem like a safety issue, the ride passes its yearly inspection which means the inspector finds the ride to be safe and sound. Believe me, with the weight of the car and schematics of the Unit, there is no way the car would “fly off the track.” The only way it become a safety issue to the rider is if they do something stupid, like stand up in the vessel or for that matter, crouch down inside of it.
Before the management installed the new sensors a few years back, the magnetic trips seemed to be much better in terms of timing. I think the new sensors have a delay, and perhaps they were not positioned just right. There are several stunts that seem to be out of whack, but not to a degree of absolute disappointment. The new trips are much more reliable and require less maintenance. I guess you just take the good with the bad.
Sean, were the letters painted/bat out on the balcony this past weekend?
