Sometimes, after working on the site or thinking about a particular dark ride for a long period of time during the day, I may have a dream that night about it-- But in the dreams, the entire inside is usually rearranged with different stunts (they are usually a lot better in the dream), and, the ride often has a different looking facade, even though I know it is the same ride. Like all dreams, I usually end up in shopping mall or hotel room. But, nevertheless, it's fun while it lasts...
…weird….

The dark ride things that hit my dreams are the repeating arches of Tracy, the motorized letters of 'whacky shack' on hunts pier twisting left and right and the 15-second audio loop in front of the gold mine he installed at dorney park. (a bizarre, building piano melody intermixed with the groans of an old prospector) you'd never forget it if you heard it a few times.

I remember the Gold Mine! I went through it many times until it closed around 1985. I first started going to Dorney Park in 1976 at 2 years old. The Mine actually survived until fall 2005 when the arcade building was razed due to safety reasons. It was one of the oldest buildings in the park. They built a porch deck over the entrance/exit in the 80's after it closed.

My dream consists of me going to Ocean City MD, which would look completely different. Going to the boardwalk, I would see the Haunted House. In that dream it didn't even look like it, and it was inside a shop. Well I walked by it and I saw workers ripping the old ride apart. I asked what was happening and they said they would construct it back together in another part of Oc City MD, near a shopping district. I came back at night and saw a camp fire in the green short rotted beach and it was a large fire. People were roasting candy into it. As I looked closer, pieces of the HH were in it. Then the boomerang collapsed from a crane that fell that was making a condo, and it fell on me and I woke up!

Over my extended absence from the forum, I myself had a number of HH dreams, but unfortunately, I forgot most of them. I do, however, remember an unsettling dream I had about the CONEY ISLAND CYCLONE Awhile back... In it, I came across a building, where the remains of the ride where being assembled indoors, on a smaller scale. It had 2 person wild mouse cars on it because it was so small. AND IT WAS THE CYCLONE, NOT ANOTHER COASTER, I'M COMPLETLY POSSITIVE. It was weird... ...But most dreams are, like the HH...

I had a Dream last night about the HH. It was weird because the lobby was set up like what I guess it looked like before the merge. The cars were a lot smaller though. Inside was the two-story HH that we know today though. But what really strikes me as odd was that there was a door to right side of the lobby were the cars were kept at night, (Don't ask me to go into detail about what went down for me to come to this realisation in the dream, cause a lot went down.) , and a piece of track that was switched in-an-out to get the cars there was an odd thing I remembered. The count wasn't in the lobby either, nor the talking gargoyle head or the crooked fencing, but there were three doors in the lobby...Odd, isn't it?

Last night I had a dream, not about the Haunted House, but the Whacky Shack. I wasn't even looking at pictures of it that day, but I had it anyway. It was closed for maintenance, and there were these new cars in front, similar to the Fright Zone cars, but they had a skull on the front that looked like the Skull Waterfall skull. There was a long not-so-tall opening on the lobby wall that looked into the ride. The hole was covered with Halloween decorations. It was weird.

I had a very interesting dream last night. My family and I were going to New York to go to Riverside Amusement Park. Now, since it's a dream, it is very false. Riverside park, if I'm not mistaken, was in Massachusettes. And the ride I drempt about isn't even at that park. Okay, so it was a short three hour drive to New York. And then I saw the front of it. Then before I know it I was back home. My family kept saying the haunted house walk-through (I don't remember the name of it) was the only ride we had a chance to go on, and they didn't remember the experience inside the ride . I even remember going onto the Bill Tracy site to the Riverside Park page, and they had one picture of it. The picture was taken from a higher spot, but not so above ground. It was taken at a sideways angle and was a bit fuzzy. I'm going to post a drawing of it later. I do remember some parts that stood out the most.

Okay, the drawing is done. I was following a quick sketch I did when I first woke up. The drawing looks very much like it, and by that I mean the dream, not the tired drawing. The only thing I added was the left section of the building. The dog was there in the dream, but the building that it was on I didn't remember. I can't draw tunnels front-on, but the exit is a walkthrough spinning barrel, with a design spinning on the far back wall. The name "Haunted Castle" really stuck out when I was trying to lable the sign. Other than the left building, everything else is exact. s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii126/Ryn27/?action=view¤t=TheHauntedCastle001.jpg

It's weird dreaming about dark rides because they usually look different. Like a couple days ago I had a dream about coney island. It was weird because I was walking along the boardwalk and it looked like a boat marina. It was windy and rainy until I got to deno's wonder wheel park. the board walk turned in to the Bowery and I bought a ticket for spook a rama and just as the ride started I woke up. some of the rides in the park were missing.

Had a Dream the other night. I was at Ocean City. There was a storm of some sorts...causing some huge-ass tidal waves...the ride had a sort of re-furbed look to it...but as I rode, the ride began to be hit by the tidal waves...holes appeared in the ceiling, and then, a huge wave came in while on the balcony, (which had a new overhang sort of thing on it) and smashed the face of the ride to bits like it was a Lego set. It crumbled. It was a crazy dream...I think all of Ocean city was wiped out in it ...crazy...

A few days ago, I had this dream where I went to Waldameer when it was closed. It was just after a rainstorm , because the ground was wet, and the air was chilly. I first went in the Pirate's Cove- I guess I had a free park pass or something. The Pirate's Cove was totally different, and stood in the place of the Snack Bar strip just in front of the Whacky Shack. The only part I remember was that there was this rock tunnel that you crawled through. Glass was covering ant tunnels (with ants), thingyroaches, and maggots that were on both sides and the floor. And, from the ceilling, rice sprinkled down, feeling like maggots are falling on you. Then I walked to the Whacky Shack and it was closed. It had been temporarily been turned into a Snack Bar. There was a neon sign, Hot Dog Stand, popcorn, soda machines, and everything. Weird!

I had a dream awhile ago, and it was just so wierd...I can't remember most of it, though. But, I remember entering the ride as usual; the first room, Crooked Hallway, Spinning Tunnel, and Upside Down room were all normal. But, when I flew down the hill and around the bend toward the Sawmill, the ride went--out of control! It's pretty crazy, but starting at the Sawmill, all the track did was go in an endless, downhill circle--passing bizarre stunts. I remember a coffin with candles...I went in circles until I finally woke up!

Last night I had a dream where I found this old documentary tape of the Haunted House. At the beginning it was showing how it first looked. It was a night video with all sorts of lights coming from the ride. It was very very tall! I think it was about 18 stories high, and it was swaying from side to side. Then it cut from that to a shot of the facade bat on the outside of the building, but it wasn't on the front of it, it was hung up outside an emergentcy exit door. Then it was showing some stunts in it, like this Mad Scientist that looked like the one from Terroride. It was very strange.

Had a dream last night about Pirate's Cove...
In it, I never really saw the outside, but I knew it was Pirate's Cove. So the inside; it was way larger then before. The roof was way higher up. Inside, there were some new stunts, which all seemed like they were vintage in some respects. They were the fun house stunts of the olden days that you would activate by touching something, Like an alligator whose mouth would close if you put your hand in it's mouth and would trigger a loud sound effect...
For some reason, the barrel had been moved to the front of the ride, where the shifting floor is now. It was odd because like Aladdin, it now offered two options to pass by; The original barrel, and this is where it gets really weird, The barrel from the Haunted House. The Car at the end and Everything. Odd...
I remember being near the back and picking up a severed head from the Drunken Pirate stunt, who was nowhere to be found. I picked it up and put it on some random headless prop behind some damaged chicken wire. It look so much smaller then before...
It was a really odd dream...A Tech Teacher from my school who bares a striking resemblance to a mixture of Hagrid the Oaf from Harry Potter, and Santa Clause was working there...
Weird...

I just thought I'd share a weird dream I had last night about our favorite attraction (as some of us often do!). Well I was approaching the HH from the end of the boardwalk where the train station is, and when I got up to it, it looked like it had been gutted! There was NO MORE lobby at all, just a big, open area with white walls and some stairs leading down into who-knows where. I remember in the dream I was saying something like "What is going on here?!?", and then for some reason my mom came up to me and was telling me about another haunted house around the corner. And it turned out that it was just a spooky painting that was on the back entrance of the trimper's HH, rather than a different attraction. I think it also said "maintenance" or something or other on it as well. The rest is just kind of a blur that didn't have much to do with the HH. Pretty bizarre how it can make you feel when you first wake up! I have to say I was very relieved when I awoke and came to my senses and realized that the HH was still all in one piece still, haha. ;D

I have had multiple dreams.
1- The parking lot is gone in one and there is a new amusment park there with new dark rides. It was a strip amusment park though. Meaning another side to the board walk. This has happened 2 times.
2- The HH is now an Old Mill but nothing special. just a loop of village scenes.
3- the HH and Morbid Manor were combined.
4- Pirates cove became an actual pirate ship hull.
5-Trimpers added multiple new rides but i never got to any.
6- Pirates cove was moved to the pier but had to layout, it was just a room.
7-A castle was built on the pier

I had a weird dream about the ride last night...
I can't remember the order in which things happened completely, but...
- 1st off, My brother got on it and apparently I had no money to buy a ticket myself, so I asked my Grandma why she had got my Brother a ticket when I was the HH obsessed one. When he reached the balcony I called up to him "Anything New Yet?" He said "Yeah, The Old Lady is Gone, and they added some things." I told him to watch out because Bolt was up ahead...
- I got on and rode through; the ride was the same till I reached the Upside down room; which had been re-themed to a Mad Lab or something; just the furnishings, the roof your car goes across had a Checker-patterned floor and the Lady in the bed was now on a Stretcher sort of thing heaving up and down, and there was Mad Lab Equipment all over the wall; The ride the turned a corner and I can't recall what was up next; It headed towards the knit Whit area, but she wasn't there; Instead, a combination of the attic rat & Leaper stunt was there, and It launched at the car; The walls were pained white for some reason too...
The Ride got to the balcony; It was raining, and the bat wasn't up; When I got inside, the Bat was on the wall, on some rig device surrounded by Bright Red Flood Lights; I can't recall even seeing Bolt where he is; The Corner was empty; The Ride came to an end sooner or later...
- I got to the Lobby, and I was actually given a tour on foot; The ride changed back to the normal Haunted House during this; Remember the Lobby being twice as large though; also, it was as if the HH was now on a corner lot; because the ride had a double sided opening with fences and all; I recall the Count wasn't on his post; I looked where the ticket booth door is and saw a workshop with an open door; The Count was inside getting a makeover, ans surprise-surprise, his head was back on his head; It looked like a barber shop; he was all limp though, like a doll...
Man that was one crazy dream...the upstairs after the crooked shaft was much longer, and had an attic like look; the floor was covered in Department store clothing racks. Odd. And a lot of stunts like the Reaching Bale, BOLT, Coffin Rig, and Electric Chair where not there; beside the missing Knit whit, it was as if they were removing all the modern stunts...weird...

I had similar dreams rescently. One was last week, the other one I had three days ago. The first dream I was at Waldameer, and the Pirate's Cove was painted pink, and they added on more to the building from the front. And there was no pirate on top, it was just a giant birthday cake. And so....it looked as though it was NOT a pirate ride at all. The second dream was (at Waldameer, of course) about the Whacky Shack. This too, was painted over and the outside (and probably inside) structure was changed A LOT. The right tower (I always called it that) was actually coming more into the lobby area (which looked smaller), and the flower windows looked more pointy. There was no face up above...it was just.....REALLY changed....the colors were....very neon...it was like a POW in the face with color........

Had a weird dream last night...
I was in ocean city, it was nighttime an raining; the boardwalk was crowded and look smaller an shorter. I remember leaving my Hotel room in the dream after looking at my clock which read 12:01... I get to the Haunted House, which still has a line out front of it. The Lobby was much shorter in length, and a bit deeper, making it look square. The ticket booth was much larger, and the window had no glass or beams and resembled a simple opening with some fake moss hanging from the top border. I get to the front of the line and give the man a $20.00 (For 6 tickets; for me of course!) and he says "You've been here all day! (Despite the fact that my dream journey to Ocean City was much longer, including several car crashes and odd happenings) Here..." and he hands me two sheet of tickets. Not the little roll cuts, the full sheets! And they aren't the blue ones...they are grey and green sheets...the Haunted House ones...a funny detail I recall was that they had riders names printed on them (I don't know why, it was like seeing my Face Book Friend bar though)... So I get on, and the car moves in running very very close to the car ahead. The inside is much taller then in real life, and it's all in one long room; similar to the straight away part after the balcony on the 2nd level of the real ride, but taller. The house lights are on, and I spy the mermaid turned around behind some benched coffin cars over by the Skull Stairs...odd... The scene heads directly into the upside down room which is on the first up-hill, (Saw hill is nowhere to be seen) and does pass the knit witt along it's way. The turn around to the 2nd-up hill passes the Torture chamber. I recall having my battery-dying camera trying to take pictures. I snap a photo in the darkness of something after my camera pulls a slow shot on me while trying to catch something else, and low and behold; it's a gag that's never been in the HH, nor do I recall seeing Tracy ever make such a thing; It resembles the HH TChamber lady but with dark brown hair and stationary melons hanging upside-down like a bat. Odd...the 2 up hills are not divided at all; only one I reach the end of the still in the proper location with proper height 2nd level walls barrel room do crash doors appear. I recall seeing Bale in a much smaller final room before the balcony before I woke up...
What a weird dream...and that isn't even the half of it...Ocean city was so different...If I can remember to post some details later I will, but I got to get ready for school.

I had an odd Haunted House dream last night; for some reason, the facade was much different; much more wacky looking if you can imagine such a thing. There was this gable with the word "THE" over the first crash door to the interior, and when I say the word "THE", it was covered in this 3-Dimensional, pop-out style sculpting of the three letter word that defied reality; (It's pretty hard to explain, but it's one of the few things that really stick out) The facade had all these black, white and red cross-hatch lines all over it; reminded me somewhat of a Tim-Burton Claymation setting. The facade also had the words "Haunted House" on it multiple times, advertising it as "Trimper's Famous!" and "Scarier then Ever!" among other things, all in the Orange Haunted House font. They even had this "Order up a Scare" menu that brought to mind the Spook-O-Rama menu from Coney Island. I keep hearing some people talking in the background, which I think were supposed to be Brandon an Scott, saying how this was the original design, and that they had finally restored it to the original. Inside, there were plenty of Tracy gags, and one new gag; which was clearly modern, over the down hill, involving a troll-like monster on a spit above the track, screaming and spinning around while shooting off a blue, electric-like lightning effect. Weird...

It's been Dead quiet here for a while, no pun intended...
My subconscious mind must have known it... for I have been having dreams about Disney's Haunted Mansions all week, and then, to my surprise, I had a Haunted House and Ocean City themed dream...
Okay, so it all starts down by the inlet end of the boardwalk, where all our favorite things are. Things looked a bit different though. Nearly all of the normal buildings had these large additions towering behind them; all several stories taller, in the traditional cream brick/stucco that the buildings on the boardwalk are generally made of. (Picture included)
It was an overcast day. I know my first stop was the Haunted House, but the gate was down and it was closed, so I went over to Marty's Playland to spend my time until it would open it.
Playland looked similar in the facade aspect at first. It had one of those additions behind it though. And upon closer inspection, the facade was made of wood, painted in flaking white paint. On the inside, things slowly changed as I continued further into the building. The floors near the front of the building were made of wooden planks covered in chipped and flaking blue/green paint. The ceiling was normal height, and still painted black with all the exposed pipes and wiring; but the hanging prizes and neon lights were missing, and the lighting was much brighter. Near the front of the building was a 1- level ropes course, off to the side where the skee-ball is in reality. As I continued into the building, I discovered what the towering addition was. The inside had been completely re-vamped near the middle, and was now much larger, with all modern games. It looked similar to the interior of the local Putt-Putt Fun Center here in Bel Air on the inside. As I headed back towards the front of the building, where the original look remained somewhat in-tact, I recall overhearing some workers talking about how Playland wasn't going to be around for much longer, and that it was going to be sold.
As some point, I wandered down one of the streets that intersects the blocks between Playland and Trimper's. Now that I think about it; Ripley's, the Pier, Sportland, and the Dough Roller were nowhere to be seen! Near one of the intersections; hanging on the walls of one of those brick additions; there was a big, 3-dimensional diorama style advertisement for the Haunted House. It had a larger Bat then the one on the facade, and a number of skulls, banshees and other things coming out of the walls with three dimensional lettering and arrows pointing around the corner towards the boardwalk. I soon came to the realization that this big brick building was actually a redesigned Carousel house. But on the inside, there weren't any rides! Instead, it was a shopping mall of sorts. Picture the inlet village, but indoors, with brick tile pavement instead of the cobblestone. I wandered back outside, and discovered more advertisements for the Haunted House on the back of the building. The main lot for amusements was still there, but besides the Tidal Wave Roller Coaster, there weren't that many other rides. The lot was much smaller, and the one across the street (near where the dough roller is) wasn't there. The lot on the opposite street still had the Zipper, and some other flashy spinning rides though. I think at this point it was starting to get dark out in the dream.
The Haunted House finally opened later that night. The lobby was double the width (think square shaped, instead of the rectangular shape), and I don't recall seeing the Count. I think the cars were circling around a crooked fountain instead. The ticket counter was still there, but the window on the side of it was now the teller window, not the one in the front. You didn't get a ticket, instead, you just gave the operator your $4.00 and he put it in the bucket (normally used for tickets in reality). The coffin cars looked all beat up; several looked like they had been rebuild entirely, but in an odd looking sort of way. The inside was very different. At the beginning, it looked similar, but most of the Tracy gags were gone. One Tracy gag that stuck out to me was the lunging bat, who actually fell off his hanger and swung towards me on a wire when activated. Near the middle of the ride, things got very different. The ceiling got drastically taller, and I knew I was in one of those new add-on's. Make-shift walls like those black sheets on poles you see at a convention center were used as barriers in this section, instead of real walls. Several modern looking gags waited around the corners as the cars negotiated the maze in this huge new room.
It seemed to me, after thinking about it; that I had taken the fact that "the Haunted House would be far better off surviving a storm then the Carousel house" to heart in this dream. I guess this was Ocean City after a huge storm had wiped out many of the landmarks. The pier was gone, and Trimper's was still there, but with a remolded Haunted House and only a handful of attractions left. The Haunted House was heavily advertised to the masses with huge dimensional billboards, and Playland seemed ready to fall on hard times. Everything that got rebuilt implemented these large additional buildings that would stand the test of time... what a bizarre dream...
