Good news for Kennywood!
via Screamscape:
From what I’ve been told so far, Kennywood is paying a fee every year they keep Garfield’s Nightmare in place, and they’re ready to rethemed the ride to ditch this unnecessary payment sooner than later, so look for a new version of The Old Mill to return next season most likely. One possible new theme I’ve heard is that they may go with some kind of “old steel mill” theme as a way to get back to using The Old Mill name once again. I’ve also heard a rumor that Noah’s Ark could get some kind of upgrade next season as well.

Thank god. The Garfield overlay was garbage. Not to mention 3D garbage, which made it even worse.

Yep, I've been hearing this for about two years, but nothing seems to have happened...until now! After continuous hatred and even slight abuse (hahaha) of the ride's scenes, it looks like Kennywood will finally get rid of the Garfield theme for the 2012 season or sooner. I'll still take one last (dreadful) ride through the "NIGHTMARE" this summer! I'm happy they're finally giving Garfield the boot. What a joke! I never made it in the Old Mill...I was too scared as a kid. Thank God I did make it in Gold Rusher, though.
They are also selling the Pitt Fall "due to its decreasing popularity"...

I heard about that. Though the "decreasing popularity" bit seems kind of exaggerated. I think "decreasing popularity" is an excuse for "maintenance headache", much like Skull Mountain's fate at Six Flags America. Going to Six Flags tomorrow to take a final voyage on the best ride in the entire park. Skull Mountain will be missed.

I would absolutely love to re-theme that boatride. But people would say its too scary.

GARFIELD. IS. STILL. THERE. And it's just upsetting. But Kennywood has been going head over heels advertising its new ride that replaced the Pitt Fall - the Black Widow - which is just like MaxAir at Cedar Point.
I have no clue when Garfield will be leaving, but so much could be done with this 100-year-old boat ride...

I think I may be the only person in the world who actually enjoys Garfield's Nightmare....
