THis hurricane has been very random and unknown. First they tracked it going into the gulf, then Florida, then GA, SC, now its trending along the coast line. And it could become a CAT 3-4. The effects down OC MD might be real bad.

I have been keeping a close eye on it. I will actually be down in OC this weekend for my bachelor party! Let's hope it stays inland far enough so it doesn't destroy the town.

I'll be in OC this weekend. I'm really hoping I don't just get Friday, our of our whole weekend plus Monday to get to the beach and enjoy the rides.

I actually want it to hit, (weather geek) but then I don't want it to hit wildwood or Ocean City, and wreak property, and lives.

sounds like a bad disaster movie plot.
Keep your hatches battened down there.

Apparently over in weather forums I participate in. A error happened with a lot of the models that were forcasting a cold front/trough to go through is weakening causing a lot of the models to move the hurricane track westerly. How much west? Not known but there picking it up. Not good.

The Trimpers will be making preparations. The ZIPPER will be laid down, canvas roofs will be removed from attractions like the Aladin's Lamp, the Combat, and the Rock & Roll most likely, and some signs will be removed. It's gonna be a long weekend. I will be making live updates direct from the boardwalk regarding preparations and impacts. Check the Facebook page for updates.

I hear they are evacuating the town. It's really hard to feel like something this bad could happen while I'm over here in Europe. The earthquake sounds like an over-exaggerated thing to me. Bet the people in California would have brushed that off and kept going about their day. But this Hurricane...
So, Brandon; are you still going to be down there this weekend, or have the kicked you out?
Hopefully, it will sweep past OC, even though that would make the evacuation look like an Epic Fail; kick out the entire town for nothing...
My Pop was just telling me if the Haunted House does get hit by the Hurricane they can always build a new one, and make it better. Tisk-Tisk Pop. No historical value, a bunch of Scare-parts and distortions unlimited junk, not artistic value what-so-ever... Hopefully, it will all turn out well; The Haunted House has survived this long, and will keep on standing...
Here's hoping for the best all the way from London...

Not going anymore! Starting at midnight they are starting Phase 3 evacuations, meaning all residents must leave town by order of the mayor. Noone is allowed on the island unless they are emergency personnel. I feel helpless, but at this point it is out of our control. What happens will happen. The good news is that Trimper's Haunted House is made of solid concrete with concrete floors and walls in most locations. It would take something mighty to destroy it. The carousel house I have concerns about.

This storm is historical, many meteorologists haven't seen anything like this. Comparisons to the late 1800's, or the one storm that separated the OC islands.
Meanwhile my basement is going to flood, which never happens, happened once in 98 with Floyd. But with 10" and rain that we had it will be wet over here.
MTTB watch this become a cat 5, and wipe out Ocean City and have the haunted house standing alone with no damage. With a lone tree.

I don't approve of when so-called "meteorologists" say, "We haven't seen a storm this bad since....fill in the blank." What they fail to remind people of is that hurricanes of this strength occur only once every so many years. Now is that time.
I agree, Mike; they are blowing the earthquake WAY out of proportion. They found cracks on the monuments in D.C., but those cracks have likely been there for decades! Everywhere else, they try as hard as they can to find a random old chimney that a few bricks fell off of. It's pretty ridiculous.
But Irene is very serious, and they've upgraded the threat level along the entire east coast to EXTREME. They are now forecasting upward of 10 inches of rain and tornadoes possible. I would have liked to have experienced at least some effects of the storm, such as heavy rain. All we will get here, however, will probably be one or two clouds!!
Imagining the HH lobby flooded makes me worried. Are the gates that go down over the ride strong enough to withstand the flood waters? I'm nervous! 24 hour coverage on the Weather Channel.

Plokoon, that's probably what will happen! A terrible category 5 will blow through Ocean City, and everyone will be intrigued that only ONE structure remained--Trimper's Haunted House! Some mysterious and haunted force kept it in tact!
I'm hoping for the best, and think that our favorite ride will hold up OK.

I wouldn't trust the weather channel. I go on meteorological forums that discuss different models (Computers that simulate tracks according to analogs (past storms) and variables.)
But right now still bad, very bad. And it looks like it could be a cat 2 along MD and NJ coast.

Strengthening again, or reorganizing I should say. Still possibly a cat 1 to low cat 2 along MD.

Virginia Beach must have been hit pretty hard. My oldest son is in the Virginia National Guard and he has been called to active duty and is to report to his Readiness center Sunday AM. He is being shipped down there for a week or more. He's a medic so I suspect he'll finally be able to put some of his training to use. Just a worried dad here but I'm sure he'll be fine.
