The update you posted, whats in that big white tent in the old pier, and what coaster is that on the pier also. Nice picture by the way, looks like Trimpers only had two rides back then.

Yeah--The Trimper's didn't really start adding outdoor rides until the late 70s/early 80s. This may be a winter shot, too, which would eliminate the few rides, if any, that they had. If you look on the lot beside the Inlet Lodge (the long greenish-blue building), it looks like ea tilt-a-whirl sitting there. The lots were very empty though, compared to what we know and love today. I can't tell if the coaster-looking attraction on the pier is indeed a coaster or a waterslide. It looks very strange, with many circles. And, to be honest, I have no clue what the tent-looking thing is. Some sort of pavilion maybe? And, I can’t tell if it’s on the pier or the beach beside the pier. I think at this time, the Pier Building Housed the Hollywood Wax Museum, which was another super-cool attraction that was in existence until the mid 90’s when Q-Zar Laser Tag took over and transformed the building into a failure.

Brandon: The picture brings back some memories. The coaster was called the Jet 2000. I remember it fondly. Instead of the old Chain to bring you to the top, it had some sort of electric motor device installed in the cars. The tent building was one of those early IMAX type movies. For the time, both were very fun attractions. Sure wish I had gone through the Morbid Manner when it was there, must have been a blast.

Thanks Flaggerjohn! My memory of the pier goes back to the late 80s at most. I wish I remembered Jet 2000—amusing how the name uses the year “2000” as if it were a so far away in the future. Here we are in 2007! The picture represents a time in OC when politics were not a strong force, when money and greed were not the mission of the city, and when folks could enjoy themselves and the town for what it was. Come back Ocean City!
