Hi from a new member. Brandon, I was very happy to have found your site - thanks for detailing & preserving so much information about the Haunted House. Superb!
I first rode the Haunted House in 1968, while on vacation with my family; our last trip there was in 1972, and I remember riding the Haunted House as much as possible that year, and made it the last thing I did before leaving for home.
I didn't return to OC until 2006, and what a great feeling to see that the ride was still there - I would never have imagined it. I carried such vivid memories of the ride all of my life, and finding it again was quite a thrill.
Some of you may know me from my YouTube site - Brandon has posted links to my Haunted House videos on the VIDEOS page of his site; my channel is jlmatterer, and I have 5 videos of the HH: 2 rides, 1 slideshow of photos inside, a video of the outside, and a video of the building closed for winter. The ride holds a strange fascination for me, as I'm sure it always will.
(If you watch my first video - 2006 - you can hear me chuckle, "It hasn't changed a bit!")
I'm really glad (and surprised) to have found a group of HH fans.
My big question for all of you: where do all you live? I'm about 2 hours north of OC, and travel to the Cape Henlopen area at least once a month; in the summer, I try to make it to the OC boardwalk as much as possible. I think it could be pretty cool to meet some of you at the HH and share a few rides together this season. Anyone interested? I'll treat all of you to Thrasher's Fries!
Thanks again, Brandon - you've done a great job with the website, and I appreciate a forum where I can meet a few more HH fans. Hope to hear from some of you.
Jim
