I remember reading somewhere about the balcony at one point having wood that could be drilled through by the point of your own finger it was so old...but then it came to my attention, as the cars were also like this apparently...HOW IN THE HELL COULD IT PASS INSPECTION??? I mean, if the ride was as frail as a geezer with polio, how could it be declared safe???

The wood on the balcony is like that because of years of weathering, and the bottoms of the cars a brittle because of the waterfall at the end of the ride. Water splashes up, gets soaked into the wood, and it begins to rot. I may have exaggerated a bit about the bottom of the cars, but it was pretty bad. The inspection process is broad, and they don't look in every corner and under every rug for problems. The cars to have steel frames, so the rotten wood would not directly effect the customer anyway...

Well, at least it's good to know that the ride isn't going to collapse like a piece of dirt-rock anytime soon...

There is enough gum on that balcony that the haunted house will stand forever, because we all know that if you swallow gum, it stays in your stomach for 40 years according to our mothers.
