Finally! I finally decided to become a member of the forum! I'd better tell a little about myself: Year after year, my family and I would vacation to Ocean City around the final week of August. The beach was nice, the boardwalk containing many boards. However, something near the end of the boardwalk stopped me dead in my tracks as a young child. It was Count Wolf Von Vinderstein, and the creepy Haunted House facade! As a child, I would stand against the clapboard in amazement at the Count. I would sit on the bench directly across from the ride, and watch for--literally--hours as coffin cars crashed through the balcony doors and crept across the roof. My parents begged me to leave, but I just had to watch longer. Despite all interest in the facade, I WOULD NOT enter the ride. I still remember to this day, looking in the exit doors. I saw an evil alien figure, with its terrible bright green face! To put an end to the resistance to enter, my parents DRAGGED me into the lobby and slapped me right down into the coffin. NO! I closed my eyes the ENTIRE WAY for about the first two years! I can also still hear the slapping of what I imagined were windows, a terrible voice that warned, "Watch out for the falling beam!", and another that said "You will never escape the Haunted House!". But one year, probably around 2004, I decided to open my eyes. I was astounded at what I had missed. This ride was amazing! Every bit of it! I think 2005 was the final year I visited Ocean City and the Haunted House. We stopped going the year I became interested! I forgot all about the ride for a few years. One day, I thought, "What ever happened to that Haunted House ride I loved so much when I was younger?" I thought Google might know. I believe I typed into Google, "Haunted House ride in Ocean City, Maryland". It may have been the very first site I clicked on. It was unbelievable to see that picture on the first page of the site, a picture I'd remembered all along! I clicked "Enter" and then sat at my computer amazed for a few days! I was shocked that others out there enjoyed this one-of-a-kind ride as much as I had! Pages upon pages of information! The first time I viewed the site was just a few months after its creation. I then searched for videos on YouTube, and all my memories came back. Today, I know that the terrible banging sound was actually graveyard knockers, and both of those demented sound effects are sadly gone. The glowing alien figure I saw is--of course--an alien bust! I've been reading the updates and forum posts forever, and now I will finally join in! I have begged my parents to take me to The Haunted House this August, but it is unclear if we'll return. Also, watch out for my deep sarcasm. Sometimes, it is hard to tell if I'm being sarcastic. I am in high school, and I won't be on the forum this late at night most of the time. Now THAT will likely be my longest post!
