:oNo...they just can't ...why? What would take it's place? This is one those few times, where you just have to say it like it is, unfortunately, but its the God forsaken Truth...
... ...
Why on earth would they get rid of it? At least they could send it to Knoebel's where it would operate for the rest of eternity then let it sit and go into a state of scarp and disrepair at the warehouse...
This to me seems like a horrible and up-most stupid decision... it's a piece of History just like The Haunted House nowadays...
I had to say it like it is, and it's the way I see it...
RIP Toboggan...

Wow; that's not good. Definitely one of my favorite rides. It's extremely bumpy, and when I rode it a few years ago, it really hurt! I thought it was pretty cool how you traveled straight up... It figures it is leaving the summer I'm returning to OC. Is there any reason the're getting rid of it?? The Toboggan will really be missed!

The toboggan was one of my favorite rides at trimpers. Last year was the first year I was ever even in Ocean City and at the park. I rode it about 5 times. I heard that the toboggan was really pain full, but when I rode it I found it was really fun and not pain full the only thing I didn't really like about it was how loud the lift hill was . My dad had one of these coasters at his home town park He said when he saw this ride it brought back some memory's. I will miss this ride so much. R.I.P Toboggan

I still haven't heard the reason why. I know the Matterhorn was because they couldn't update it to today's safety standards. Is the same true for the Toboggan? I will miss it, even though my back and knees may not. I hope this isn't the beginning of a trend at Trimpers.

I really wish we could be given a reason why it's going away in to storage. After all, anything that goes onto storage for Trimpers most likely will never be used again... See what I mean? Why not just sell it if they don't plan on operating it anymore, god only knows why they don't plan on doing so anymore... Hopefully Trimpers would give us a better reason for closing it then Anahiser Busch did for closing Big Bad Wolf. End of it's service life I disagree. That thing was at least 10 years younger then Loch Ness Monster...

There are many reasons the Toboggan closed, but mostly because of the cost of maintenance. Because parts were no longer available from Chance for the ride, that meant that every time a part broke, it had to be custom-machined by an external company for the ride. Custom work is extremely expensive, and the logic to keep it operating just wasn’t making sense. When thousands upon thousands of dollars are spent on a yearly or monthly basis for making parts for a ride, it often makes better sense to buy a new one and make a monthly payment to the bank. In this case, it is my belief that another already-existing ride will be put in its place.

I think I do remember the loud lift hill... I hope no more traditional rides leave the park! (One in particular.)

Brannon: Thanks for the update and the reason it's going away. I can fully understand their thinking, and as much as I'll miss the ride, there is definately a time when it becomes economically feasible to get rid of things. I'd imagine that it took a real beating over the years, especially with the salt air. I know what 2 weeks at Assateague does to my camping gear and kids bikes, I couldn't imagine what the Trimpers go through just keeping these rides functioning and functioning safely. I for one (and I know I'm not alone here) really appreciate what the Trimpers and their employees have done to preserve these rides. I'm 43 and remember as a little kid riding the indoor amusements, most of which are still in great shape, even the little lights still work, as do most of the buzzers and pretend guns.
Looking forward to another great year of OC, can't wait for July.

Well, I guess there is logic behind the reasoning, but at least tell me they actually have it IN a warehouse and not out on the lawn...
After all, if there is any hope of selling it or fixing it some day, it won't be any good if it's been through what the head-slinger has had to endure...
I will miss that ride. The only roller coaster Trimper's had that I really enjoyed. I'm not a fan of Tidal Wave, and the Wacky Worm is okay but the toboggan was just a unique experience.
As Troy said, I too wish I would have decided to get it on film. Guess we made a huge mistake in waiting till next year, as their isn't gonna be one...
Sorry about the lashing out there, but It was one of those rides that I really enjoyed, and it will be missed. Last time I visited, I rode that, the Pirates Cove, Aladdin, The Mirror Maze, and The Haunted House, and that was it.
