I've been reading things for a while now on various sites saying that the Coney Island Cyclone is at risk for an unnecessary overhaul, but this article here is the straw that breaks the camel's back :

I don't know why in the hell they would want to pull the 1927 rolling stock. But I've come to learn that if Coney Island's History tells you anything, it's that New York's Governing Body is a son of a b***h, and anything historic or nostalgic in Coney Island is going to bite the dust on their call at some point. But this is like ripping the heart out of the attraction. It would be like pulling the Coffin Cars off the Haunted House and replacing them with some generic Sally Corp Crap. It's uncalled for and is completely unnecessary.
It's not looking good for my favorite roller coaster...
Show some support, and join my army against the tyranny of New York's horrible grip. Numbers will show them what morons they are for even considering to do such a thing.

Safety over nostalgia. You got to realize that these cars are older then the haunted house coffins and go up and down and around in fast speeds.

Well, they car overhaul the cars. But they can't remove them! They are way more safe than any PTC Train could be with their heavily padded seats and lap-bar.
